The NYC trio’s debut 1989 album “3 Feet High and Rising” is the Sgt Peppers of hip hop. It made the genre what it could be. It ignored the prevailing urban hardcore dynamic, and took a more chilled out, playful, psychedelic, jazz-infused scenic route, straight into the hearts and minds of millions. It made them that very rarest of artist – premiers and champions after just one album.
